Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach–My Thoughts During the Race

Hello again everyone!  I thought I’d try something new for today’s race.  I’m going to blog my thoughts and reactions as I watch the race.  I make no apologies for having drivers who I like and drivers who I don’t like, so don’t expect me to be objective.  You’re free to disagree, as long as you remain respectful.  Variety is the spice of life, after all.

Firestone Grand Prix Of St. Petersburg–My Thoughts after Qualifying

The Verizon IndyCar Series is back!  And what a weekend it’s been already!!  For various reasons (a movie, shopping, a 7-mile run in the rain), today’s round of qualifying was the first chance I had to follow the action down in St. Petersburg.  Kudos to IndyCar for deciding to wait it out and hold a full qualifying session.  It was definitely worth the wait!

IndyCar Fans, Start Your Engines!

It’s a glorious time of year!  Yes, it’s supposed to snow here in the DC area tomorrow, but who cares?!  IndyCars will be on track FOR REAL in less than 4 days!!  The excitement began to build last week and it seemed to bust out today with tweets and blog posts and all kinds of detailed analysis.  If you’re looking for that, you’re probably in the wrong place.  But I’ve pledged to get myself off of The IndyCar Blogs “Semi-Active Blogger” list, so here goes!

It’s a Great Time to be an IndyCar Fan!

Two weeks ago, IndyCar pit spotter Patsy White tweeted this:

I love IndyCar. I have for 30 years. I’m sorry the ratings aren’t good, I’m sorry the TV package isn’t good but I still love IndyCar.

Before I continue, if you’re not following Patsy on Twitter, you’re missing out.  Stop reading right now and go follow her.  DO IT!

My Indy 500 Experience

I feel like I’m behind the curve on this, since almost all of the blogs I read have covered their Indy 500 experiences already, but I just got home from the airport at 8 PM yesterday and I was back at work today, so this is the first real chance I’ve had to sit down and write.  I have a lot to say about my time at IMS (and related topics) but for tonight I’m just going to give a semi-brief rundown of the events of my weekend.

I had another absolutely amazing five days in Indy!  I arrived on Thursday, a little late due to a plane that sat on the tarmac for no apparent reason (and with only one update from the flight crew) for over an hour, but very very excited that I was finally in Indy.  My boss was already at the airport (yes, I travel with my boss, we were friends before she was my boss–and she’s primarily a NASCAR fan but who can resist Indy?!) so we headed right to the Emerald Aisle and chose our rental car (a really cute Chevy Captiva SUV with leather seats, remote start, and XM Radio) and off we went to IMS! It’s Race Morning!

Isn’t is glorious to be able to say that?!  I’m following the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg warmup on racecontrol.indycar.com and I can’t stop smiling.  It’s going to be a great day and PLEASE let us have only racing to talk about today.  I don’t want to know what Beaux Barfield ate for breakfast, or what Mark Miles is listening to on his iPod right now, or which members of the Hulman-George family had a dispute last night.  I only want to hear about how strong Simona de Silvestro looks now that she’s driving a Chevy-powered car, or how impressive Tristan Vautier is, or how Andretti Autosport is looking strong again this year.
